Geneva midfielder Nick Askin as recently announced his commitment to study and play lacrosse at SUNY Oswego after gradutation this spring. Nick will start his third year on the Panther varsity with 93g-19a. His five goals in the Class C tournament last year earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team. The All Tournament Teams for 2018 were announced at each final on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments.

# 2928  Penn Yan Wins 24th - Victor Wins 6th

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: All four Champions have been crowned and are ready to advance to the NYS Regionals (quarter finals) which will be held at St. John Fisher College on Saturday. The Class A game will see Fairport vs Orchard Park at 10:00 AM, The Class B Game will feature Victor vs Hamburg at 12:30, The Class C game with Geneva vs East Aurora will start at 3:00 PM and the Class D game will see Penn Yan vs Edan at 5:30PM. Tickets will be $6.00 as set by NYS.

# 2927  Victor Wins their Sixth Straight Championship

Victor secured their sixth straight Section Five Title with two goals in the final sixty seconds.  The Braves had taken a two goals lead with less than six minutes remaining and held on to a one goal lead with 1:00 left on the clock.  The Blue Devils never gave up and defeated Canandaigua 7-6 in regulation.  The game was a defensive battle with both goalies coming up strong.  Canandaigua’s Aiden Kenyon finished with 9 saves (7 in the first half) and Victor’s Liam Haller finished with 14 saves (including 5 in the fourth quarter).  Both goalies were named to the All Tournament Team.

# 2846  Canandaigua Uses Fourth Quarter to Secure Win

Canandaigua scored four goals in the final quarter to secure a 6-5 victory over Thomas.  The Titans played a strong early game, but in the second half, they struggled offensively as they were scoreless for twenty minutes spanning from 0:47 seconds into the third until just under 3 minutes left in regulation.

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were two games scheduled and only one and a half played today. At Canandaigua Academy, the Braves went right to work, outscoring the Panthers 5-1 in the first and 7-3 in the second quarter. After that, Geneva was held scoreless in the second half while Canandaigua added six more. Nine players made the Braves offensive list which ws led by Tyler Goode (3g-2a) and Mark Belles (2g-3a). Matt Bierhile won 14 of 19 face-offs and Aiden Kenyon made five saves (63%). Sam Miller led the Panther scoring with 2g. Canandaigua (6-1) will play Thomas on Thursday. Geneva (5-2) will play Greece on Saturday.

# 2812  Canandaigua Wins Season Opener

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: There was only one game played on Friday night. After a slow start, Canandaigua seemed to grab momentum with three goals in a row, but Pal-Mac, behind the efforts of senior midfielder Jake Gallina (3g-2a), kept the game close with the Braves finishing with a 10-8 win on the road. Seven Canandaigua players made the offesnive book that was led by sophomore midfielder Sam Bennett (5g) and senior midfielder Mitch Pfeiffer (2-3). Both goalies had a good game. Shaun Murphy for the Red Raiders made 12s (55%0 and Aiden Kenyon made 10s *56%) for the Braves.

Three teams are still undefeated with Webster Thomas (5-0) and Gananda (5-0) in the lead and Victor in at 4-0, Twenty-six (of seventy-three out of Section games scheduled) have been played. Section five teams have won sixteen (62%).
